Parliament and government

Parliament and government

From and for the Federal Palace

The Studio House of Parliament records all debates in the National Council and the Council of States. Coverage can be followed live on when Parliament is in session. Federal Council media conferences are also recorded and made available on the internet at

Federal Assembly debate recordings

National Council and Council of States debates are recorded using remote-controlled television cameras. Both control rooms are located in the Studio House of Parliament. The recorded debates are broadcast on the Federal Administration’s internal television channel. We also provide the signal to Parliamentary Services for use on its website.

Media conference recordings

The weekly Federal Council media conferences and all other press conferences involving Federal Councillors are recorded and broadcast on the Federal Administration’s own internal TV channel. We also provide the signal to the Federal Chancellery for use on its website.

Signal broadcast

The signal is property of the Swiss Confederation. The SRG SSR is commissioned to record debates and to make the signal available to the media.

Exceptional situations

To inform the population in the event of exceptional situations and crises, the Confederation has its own emergency radio transmitter (IBBK radio) and safe rooms for the government. Working with SRG correspondents, the Studio House of Parliament supports the Federal Council in situations of crisis with the necessary personnel resources and radio production facilities.
